Recently I have had certain lights in the apple home app change in the appearance of the icon, and an extra device appearing linked to the light called a light effect. It only seems to occur on color capable Hue Bulbs. I went into the Tonesto/homebridge app and removed the light effect capability from each bulb, but they seem to be sporadically coming back to the bulbs 1 or 2 at a time. Is there a better way I should or could be dealing with this? I don't like the bulbs in the home app having the light effects option because it doesn't work or seem to do anything when the effects button is pressed, and makes it take an extra tap to manipulate the light.
Currently I have hue scenes that do color changing and such exposed through homebridge as "devices" that I can click to activate the scene.
I don't think there have been any changes on the hub side lately that would affect HomeKit. Are you using a Hue Bridge? If so, is there a reason you're integrating the bulbs (and possibly scenes) throgh Hubitat when you could integrate them to Apple Home directly via either HomeKit or Matter from the Bridge?
Are you saying the HomeBridge app "forgets" you un-selected the option? That might be a problem with the app, and that I'm not familiar with.
I have all of the hue devices integraged through hubitat because I want to be able to program/control automations through hubitat. Everything I do with automation is via habitat, I like the interface and siri control I can get when I am controlling devices through my iPhone, but we also use Amazon echo's to control devices. I'm not doing any automatons via homebridge/Homekit.
Homebridge has seemed to occasionally "forget" that I have excluded the light effects from a device, but when I go back into the plugin to check settings, the device is showing as having its light effects excluded, yet still appears in the apple Home app.
the device that "forgets" I have gone and also exclude everything having to do with light effects from the "device filter management" section in the homebridge plugin. Thus far this has not seen a device "forget" that its had light effects excluded.
I guess I didn't state this explicitly, but what I meant is that you can integrate your Hue Bridge into both Hubitat and Apple Home natively, i.e., directly from the Hue Bridge, without putting Hubitat in between. This would avoid this problem, assuming you are using a Hue Bridge. (Not really what you asked, which I suspect has more to do with your HomeBridge integration, but a possible solution...)
