Home Safety Monitoring with only Leak and Battery

I have setup HSM but only for my leak detectors and battery low alerts. I have armed both services Water and Custom

I just added the button to the dashboard and the icon is showing Red Disarmed even though HSM shows armed in the configuration. Am I missing something with this app? All the events in the app look good and even tested the water sensors and they do fire off the alerts. Is there something else that needs to be done to set the tile green?

I have had HSM setup for almost 2 years now so take what I say with a grain of salt. Options may have changed since then.

The Arm/Disarm that is shown on the dashboard relates to the Intrusion portion of HSM. The thinking is that...why would you want to disable water, battery or carbon monoxide monitoring? You would only want to change the status of Intrusion monitoring based on whether you were home or away or time of day, etc. You can manually disarm the water leak monitor within the HSM app near the bottom of the main config page. I assume their would be options to disable other non-intrusion monitors there as well.

I just want to see status on the dashboard. Also if they do trigger I want to "silence" the alarm and HSM options are limited. I may just have to use a virtual switch for that.

That is precisely what I use for my intrusion alerts.

Notice that I set the switch to automatically turn off. This way it primed and ready for the next time I need to "Turn on to Cancel Alerts". It is essentially a momentary switch.

Now that I think of it, I have never tested whether this would also disable alerts for leaks as well...I have always just opened the app and cleared the alert manually . Will have to test.

Ok...so I tested and it looks like the Cancel Alert Options apply to leaks as well. Great to know as this will save me a bit of time cancelling any leak alerts in the future. :+1:

The leak alert does not appear to change the status of the HSM tile on the dashboard. You can of course just display the status of the leak sensor which to me is far more valuable especially if you have more than one sensor (I would want to know exactly where the leak has occurred so it can be taken care of as quickly as possible).

Actually using Lannouncer I have it speak the room and device over and over

Same here...and also have my lights change color based on the type of alert....which is why I don't use the dashboard to monitor my HSM status.

You can cancel that alert that you will get from a leak or custom alert by clicking on the HSM tile and the option "Cancel Alerts" is there.

Good to know as well.
He wants to see the leak alert show on the HSM tile which as far as my tests show is not possible.

It will show on the list of Alerts when you click on the tile but the tile itself is will not, no.

Sorry to drag up this issue .....but hoping there is better solutions....
I just came from Smartthings...and when I got a water alert, I got a very clear indicator in the app that there is a water issue and I could click a button to clear the WATER ALERT and reset things and when I did it showed the system cleared....
I see nothing like that in HSM. On the dashboard all I see DISARMED, even though a water alert has happened....there is no clear clearing mechanism and no clear indication that anything has been cleared.
These all seem pretty basic.....am I missing something and its really there? Are they working on improvements in this area? A clear view of this is important - in my mind : )
In addition, not knowing how to clear it, and I opened the water valve, HE closed the valve again after I had opened it...is that expected ?

Thanks for that...but where is the indication that there is a Water Alert Tripped ? and that its cleared ?

I get the Water Alert on my phone and TTS speaker. Not sure the cleared is available

I agree with Tim here. It would be great if the status of the water alarm could be viewed clearly on the dashboard and alerts easily cleared.
I had a water disaster in the garage last weekend so I am trying to add leak detection, alert and valve control right now. It will be great if this system saves the day next time but It seems far more likely that my wife will have a false alarm and have to sit in the house with no water and sirens blaring because she can't figure out how to clear the alarm from the dashboard.

i wrote a custom smart alarm notification device and use it on my dashboard with virtual switches and also added a clear alert virtual switch ie.
