Theyโre probably not able to be more specific than that right now.
It's been a couple weeks.
They typically announce when they have made a fix or released a new feature. They donโt often layout a timeline for either beforehand.
They put a hold on using a paid service.
Radio backup of z-wave is the primary selling point.
@bobbyD ?
Yes hub protect is a paid service (one I pay for too). The extended hardware warranty that also comes with that paid service is otherwise unaffected, although I agree it's an annoyance that cloud restores are temporarily affected.
I assume they are prioritizing a fix for that reason, and if they had meaningful info about when it's expected to be restored, they'd share that too.
Are you trying to restore a cloud backup to a new hub or something?
I'm swapping out devices, experimenting, etc.
Would be nice to have the radio reassurance rather than just local.
Primary selling point of Hub Protect is the extended warranty, the cloud backup is an auxiliary service that completes the package of the extended warranty to be free of headaches, not only a free replacement hub, when the disaster strikes.
We may consider adding a stand alone Cloud backup service without the extended warranty in the near future, but we want the cloud backup and restore to be 99% smooth experience for all users.
Speaking of smooth experience, the cloud backup and restore is functional and solid for majority of users. There is a small number of users who may run into trouble. For those users the above post was made, simply out of an abundance of caution. Some enhancements have already been implemented in the latest version, with more on the way in the update after the next beta release.
That wasn't clear.
It sounded like a Stop Work Order kind of thing.
I haven't seen problems, knock on wood.
Thanks.
The problem is that you wouldn't know if you are part of the minority, or the majority. Would you really like to find out that you are in the minority? Don't think so, and neither do we...
FWIW I personally find the radio backup the most important part of Hub Protect. Extended warranty of the hub second. Amazon can deliver another hub within a few hours but it takes me a 12+ hours to get devices reset, paired, and rules setup.
To each their own.
I didn't realize I could get my hub replaced if it screwed up until this thread, lol. I bought it for the radio backup.
Respectfully disagree. The only reason I subscribe to the hub protect plan is for the radio backup/restore. I bought spare hubs so I wouldn't be down for extended periods.
I would have to agree The reason I subscribe to the hub protect plan is for the radio backup/restore 1st. and then the warranty 2nd
( I have had to use both )
Has the cloud restore issue been resolved with the issue of 2.3.9.193 ?
No improvement. This statement remains true, though:
