Who wants a cheap clone that works good, with USB C & USB A ports, using generic zigbee multi-endpoint inbuilt driver? Made by "Hobeian", whoever that is. Mine has 1 A port and a C port, both independently controllable.
I bought the USB C for $0.99 each while my wife bought the USB A, also for $0.99. After that they were still a limit of 1, but at $3.98 each ("a savings of $1.00").
It paired just fine with my C-8 Pro, coming in as a Device. I didn't even need to reset it (the tiny manual says a long press of the button was needed to put it in pairing mode, but it went into that mode immediately).
I manually changed the type to Generic Zigbee Multi-Endpoint Switch and hit Save followed by Configure. That added two child devices, one for each USB port, "EP01" and "EP02". With a device connected to each port, I found that EP01 is the USB C output, and EP02 is the USB A output.
There is only 1 LED and 1 button on the side. The LED lights if either port is on. If either (or both) ports are on, the button turns them both off. If both are off, the button turns them both on.
The manual says it acts as a Zigbee router.
It's a bit "cheap" feeling, compared to the Sonoff ZBMicro. On the other hand, unlike the Sonoff, so far it hasn't crashed my Zigbee mesh. (to be fair, I've never moved the 3 ZBMicros I have to the C-8 Pro; they remain as the only devices on my 2nd C-7; they were crashing my main C-7 before I migrated the mesh to the C-8 Pro).
The biggest annoyance: the USB male port is centered. The design of the ZBMicro is nicer with the port being offset.
The sonoff one I just got is one hell of a repeater, signal very strong, not even on turbo. My mesh seems to be fine 2 days in, we will see. My Hobeian one was a fair repater, lots of connections, but close to 50% red(poor links) were displayed. Not sure how accurate the Zigbee Mapp app is...
I have both the sonoff and a multiple outlet one (not this particular makes though). One thing to notice is the Sonoff let data pass through while the multiple outlet one does not. Not sure if it is the case with this one too.
I think he means USB data vs USB power only (not Zigbee).
This doesn't matter to me, as I only use these for turning the power on/off of USB powered devices ... e.g., when we are in the house, the interior Wyze cams are all physically powered off.
