I just purchased a hubitat and set it up successfully on an iPad. I also have a Zen thermostat that I paired. The Zen thermostat device will only show current status that is manually set. It will not take commands despite my performing a factory reset on the thermostat and configuring and pairing from scratch. I'm puzzled and would appreciate some assistance to resolve this issue. Everything is the latest GA version as of a month ago. Everything is a vanilla install. I only have three devices and no automation rules of any kind.
All help and ideas are most enthusiastically appreciated.
You aren't the only one having problems with a Zen. I have a motion based automation on one in a Gym and it only works about 30% of the time. Total PITA. I've seen some people talking about them being flaky, but no resolution.
Also, what version? Is it a Zen Zigbee Edition? I have been using one for some years now. My device type is Zen Thermostat. I have had some issues which I resolved by creating a series of rules.
One rule checks to see if we are leaving or arriving. This sets the thermostat to our desired settings for heat and cool based on whether we are away or home. If we are home, it checks to see if it is day or night and adjusts the settings appropriately.
One rule checks to see if the mode of the thermostat is set to "auto" and if not, changes it to auto.
The following three run every 15 minutes offset by a minute each.
One rule checks to see if the "away" settings took, and if not, changes the settings to the correct ones.
One rule checks to make sure the "day" settings took, and if not, changes them to our preferred settings.
One rule checks the "night" settings, and changes them if they are not correct.
After making these rules, I have very rarely had the thermostat fail to respond appropriately. On the rare occasion where the setpoint fails to change on the change between "away," "home," or "night," the rules fire to make that change.
