I'm just getting started with Rule machine, having migrated over from ST and WebCore. I'm tempted to just move back to webcore since I know it, but I'd like to be native if possible. I'm having trouble with my "bedtime" rule. I have a rule that shuts everything down when the hub is switched into night mode. That one is easy and works as expected. The trouble is the rule that actually switches the hub into night mode. I have a withings sleep sensor and the goal is to switch to night mode if withings sleep sensor changes to present, both bedroom doors are closed, time is between 8pm and 8am, and the mode IS NOT already night. It took me a while to get it triggering at all, but I thought I had it working as of last night. However, someone just sat on the bed and rule triggered night mode, turning everything off, at 3:58pm CST, even though both doors were open and we were well outside the time conditions. Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong?
I see you have created your conditions but you have not actually used them in the Select Actions to Run section.
This is one of the things that needs to be appreciated with RM.
In the bottom section it allows you to go in and amend the conditions and these changes will then reflect in the rule itself.
Ah, thank you very much. So the solution was to create a CONDITIONAL action based on a selection of the conditions I had already established. I watched all 3 rule machine videos and read countless threads and just never even noticed or understood the CONDITIONAL action vs the standard action. So the way I had it setup, mode was going to change to night any time the sleep sensor changed, since you have to use a CONDITIONAL action if you want it to abide by conditions.
So now I'll go through all my other rules that I haven't realized aren't working properly yet.
