Help with odd diagnostics

Sadly my once good neighbor has become an addicted paranoid meth-head. A few months back he determined that the people in his head had hacked his computers, cellphone, security cameras, and anything digital.

To combat this he has installed a signal jammer (his ex wife showed me a photo of it).

They are illegal here but the cops can’t/wont do anything.

What this means for me is that every time he turns it on, all my Zigbee automation via Hubitat stops working.

So now we have the back story, here’s the help I need.

Aside from taking the hub somewhere out of his jammer range to do tests, what tests can I do at home to 100% guarantee that my Hubitat C8 is still working correctly, and that my Zigbee network is still ok, it’s just his jammer causing the problems.

I can see devices but when I try turn them on or off Hubitat says the command is sent but nothing happens.

I’m not sure what diagnostics I can do from here.

Does your 2.4Ghz wifi also stop working at the same time?

On Zigbee details there is a button to see Device Graph, there is also a more advanced community version: [RELEASE] Zigbee Map app

Not sure what else it might tell you other than all your devices are offline.

They are illegal everywhere in the US. Does your mobile service go down as well? The FCC handles investigation and even has a page about jammers. The FCC showing up to his house would really get the paranoid juices flowing :joy:

Is this in the US?

I haven’t actually checked my other 2.4 devices as pretty much everything runs on 5. I’ll switch a phone over to a dedicated 2.4 to test.

I’ll check the map.

Thanks.

No NZ, but they’re illegal to have, however it seems easy to import as customs clearly didn’t know what it was….

No because mobile is on 5 and his jammer doesn’t seem to affect that as much.

We do have an equivalent to the FCC - I’ll go peruse their website and hopefully they have a “contact us”
