Heiman S1-M Matter Smoke Alarm

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but wanted to give a heads up that the Heiman Matter Smoke Alarm seems to work. I couldn't find any discussion of this device so I took a chance and picked one up. It paired smoothly with SmartThings (via my Aeotec V2 hub that acts as a Thread Border Router), and from there I was able to "adopt" it with my C7 hub.

Initially it installed as a "Device" so I went looking for a driver. I tried the Generic Matter Smoke Device driver, but it still showed as a "Unknown device type 'Device'". I then tried the Sensereo Matter Smoke and CO Alarm driver, but that didn't make things any better. I think it was then that I set the Default Current State to "smoke," but that also didn't make any difference, and now the device was showing as offline. I decided I might as well remove it and try again, but first switched it back to the Generic Matter Smoke Device driver--and suddenly it started working!

TBH, I'm not really sure what it was that finally got it working, but since no one has seemed to post about this I wanted to let others know that the Heiman does seem to work with Hubitat. Very glad to find this, as I really wanted something that I could use to turn off my 3D printer if it ever decides to go up in smoke!

I believe there is a specific driver available on HPM. It works to me, althought mine is ZigBee, not Matter.

UPDATE: I was having connectivity problems, with the smoke detector frequently dropping offline even though it stayed online in SmartThings (which I'm using as the Thread Border Router). So I decided to remove and re-add it and another Thread device and try to rebuild the thread mesh. In doing so I again chose the Generic Matter Smoke Detector driver, but this time it did not work. So I tried the Sensero Matter Smoke and CO detector (again setting the Default Current State to "Smoke") and it appears to be working OK, at least for now. I'll update again if that changes, but didn't want to mislead anyone into using the Generic Matter Smoke Detector.

Frankly, I've found Matter to be a pain in the neck. For all the talk about making connections easier, I've consistently found it to be trickier to work with. And I've yet to find any way to actually "see" the thread mesh to analyze issues. (Sounds like it's possible with HA, but I've tried HA and it's too much for my pea brain.)
