I am considering the purchase of the Heatit Z-Water2 and I can see that the older Heatit Z-Water (v1) was added to Hubitat release 2.3.1 two years ago.
Can anyone inform me based on their own experience whether the Z-Water2 works properly with the Z-Water (v1) driver?
Any views on whether the Heatit Z-Water2 is a reliable product would be welcome too.
Correct. There was interest in the first generetation Heatit Z-Water -- I cannot share links but if you search here for "Z-Water" you'll find a discussion about creating "Generic Composite Driver", before a standard driver was added to release 2.3.1.
I cannot find anything about the "Z-Water2", though.
Hi, I have a Z Water 2. However, this is the second device that has problems after a few weeks. Commands, such as on or off, are no longer executed. However, I assume that it is the device itself, as I can hear the switching commands on the device by the relay clicking, but the relay immediately switches back to its previous state. I use the Z Water driver from Hubitat.
Do you have similar problems or is it, as I suspect, the device itself that is defective?
Hello. I have only had the Z-Water2 installed for about a week, and even still it is only connected to a small number of zones for testing.
I tried to write my own driver for it, but, like you, I am using the original Z-Water driver and ignoring the invalid elements.
In my testing, it is working as it should.
One more comment that might help others: I have hooked up relay 9 to my heat exchange unit (HIU) because I was replacing an existing system that both triggered the actuators for the water valves and activated the HIU (which uses the communal hot water supply shared in my building). I have set up programming logic with my thermostats (also from Heatit) to activate relay 9 (for the HIU) whenever a state change on an actuator results in one or more valves being open, and to turn relay 9 off when a state change leads to no valves being open.
