Just saw this on Amazon moments ago and purchased 2 for a total of 16 Sengled Zigbee Soft White bulbs. Thought I'd share with others.
I am not convinced that a soft white (only) bulb is the best purchase, I would prefer RGB if I am buying a smart bulb. But for $2.88 each, you can give them away when you upgrade to smart switches, or throw them away when they fail.
Not every bulb in my house needs the added expense to have the option of color choices. Some, if not most, of my needs are for regular white color lights to see in the room normally.
I have about 30 of these throughout the house, no need for RGB in most locations. Got about 6 in storage in case they start to go bad. May have to make another purchase.
Are they all in fixtures that do not have the ability to do a smart switch? Otherwise not seeing the point of a bulb instead of a switch.
Mostly Lamps that have the old 3-way switches. I use Samsung Buttons to control them or Scenes from Inovelli Switches with no loads on the switches. What I like is they are in control groups for Zigbee. No popcorn effect.
Renters are often restricted from making changes to the light switches. Smart bulbs are sometimes a good option for these users.
The product link in case anyone is interested.
I have a number of small closets that have a single bulb fixture and I have the light come on when you open the door. There is a light switch inside each closet but the house is older and none of them have a neutral at the switch. I could get non neutral switches but with a single bulb I would need the external load added as well. A single smart bulb was much easier and cheaper.
This is exactly how I've used smart bulbs like these. But I hate that they are just 800 lumens ("60W" equivalent). So I use 2-in-1 socket adapters like this to use 2 (or 3) bulbs in each closet for more light.
I prefer the daylight version as opposed to the soft white. One bulb seems bright enough. If I could get 10 of the daylight version for $2.80 a piece I would pick them up. The daylight version on Amazon are about $10.00 a piece
I agree.
I didn't use this brand; I used the Home Depot Ecosmart Zigbee bulbs (*), which were selectable CCT. While everything in the house is warm white (for maximum WAF), the closests are set to daylight.
(*) sadly no longer available.
