I'm super intrigued by the Eufy Smart Lock Touch, I LOVE the idea of the fingerprint sensor, I would do zwave or zigbee but so far I haven't found one. So I was wondering if there was a way to link it up with like a fixed IP address, Or if anyone has a zigbee or zwave option that could suggest that would be awesome too!
I did not get a response, but eufy just released this same lock with wifi. So i went ahead and bought it anyway. Should have it in a week or so. For me i don't have overly complex automations for my locks, I just need them to lock with my shut down routine that i use with alexa and be able to lock/ unlock remotely. I was hoping to make it more local, but even if my internet went down. It's not the end of the world for me to have to manually lock it lol. A little side note tho for if you do purchase the lock.
So with the wifi version of this lock, I seen all the talk about it having a bridge to do the wifi. So i been checking once every couple days on youtube to see if people are posting reviews. All the ones I've seen were with the wi-fi bridge. A few days ago I found a good deal on amazon and pulled the trigger. Did my daily check the next morning and a new video came up. I seen the box that said BUILT IN WIFI. So i searched and searched and nothing on their sites or a remote trace of it. Other than that video and best buy. I called eufy this morning to find out why best buy has a built in version and eufy doesn't. The built in wifi is a best buy exclusive product. So only best buy will be selling the built in wifi at the moment. So i ordered the built in version and will be sending the one with the bridge right back to Amazon when it gets here.
Thanks for your help in unravelling this mystery! The review I read talked about built-in WIFI but everything on Amazon - and the Eufy site - only talked about a WIFI bridge. I hadn't stumbled on the BestBuy news. Will look into it immediately.
I installed the built-in WiFi version today. A nice product with a super-simple installation. They thought of everything.
The fingerprint reader works well, as does the touchpad. The app will take some time to become familiar; having a hard time finding what I want right now. A major improvement from the previous version is the nice rechargeable battery pack used instead of four individual batteries.
Alexa does not yet work. She claims the lock software is out of date. Eufy support says that situation will be ironed out in the next few days.
A Hubitat app would really be nice! I'd like to put the lock on my dashboards.
UPDATE 20 Feb 2021: There is a firmware update to the lock that solves the Alexa situation. The lock and Alexa are now best friends.
@silvermanstan yeah after the artic blast of snow causing delays from UPS. I finally got mine in and installed tonight it's a super amazing lock so far. I'm actually super impressed with the build quality and how well the fingerprint sensor works. Only been messing with it for an hour or so. Yeah some sort of integration would be awesome, like the ecobee, or the kasa products. I was also mis-informed on the phone with Eufy, as I checked their website today and they have the built in Wi-Fi version up on there for order. So at least you can get it from them and or best buy. Not having the wi-fi bridge and it being built in was totally worth it, along with the re-chargeable battery pack.
If you go to the lock's ip address does the lock have a web interface?
I really like how fast and reliable other WiFi devices like the Shelly work.
Hopefully Eufy can perform the same.
i was in the same boat. bought the bridge model, saw the wifi model, was about to return, but recognized that technically, the BT/BLE model will be much more power efficient than the wifi, and thus on paper should have a better battery life. This is why the Wifi model has that honking battery pack instead of the AA's Kept it, and same thing, wishing that it could be integrated w/ hubitat
@kwclarke710 What has been your experience with the fingerprint reader? Does it work consistently? I get spotty operation. Works well for a while, then won't work at all.
I know this reply is months later, but I had zeros issues with the fingerprint reader. It has worked flawlessly since the day I have installed it. Still wish some coding genius would integrate it into Hubitat lol but luckily my echo works 99% of the time so that I can still automate it that way.
Bumping this again...I just installed the Eufy Smart Lock touch with wifi bridge. I love it! I would recommend this over any other I've tried so far. Easy install! Fingerprint reader works flawlessly! App and Notifications all work great! I was hoping to find some information on how it is integrating with Hubitat....I haven't figured that out yet. But I am very new to hubitat and haven't got much working on it. I also have Home assistant installed on a Virtual Machine...still trying to figure out both. Anyone from above have experience integrating this with hubitat or HA? Thanks.
