It is truly something to aspire to..
Not sure how your wife is putting up with all of this but that in of itself is impressive.
I have a ways to go yet..

This make me laugh, I have a story to tell, in my first marriage I usually used this method with my ex wife but enhanced, everybody owes me money because I did this X job, you know, to avoid so many questions, I had cars hidden in my friends house doing this method. Eventually we got divorced, not because of this, we started together too young. Now my actual wife, she is a dream come true, she doesn't ask, I don't need to use that method anymore, WAF is not a hard task. But my spare parts is getting big and I'm starting to be concerned if this will make my wife to change! ![]()
Then, I will order a c-5, but I don't want to do it because I will void the warranty, I want to open it so badly.
couldn't you use the non neutral inovelli switches? 30 bucks a pop right now, no neutral and they support scenes and notifications. Much easier than running wire
They're preorder right now

Unfortunately no. We standardized on the traditional switch look and feel.
This is generally true as well. We've been together for 18 years. She's very non-technical but accepting and patient of my hobbies (and profession). The only time she gets upset is when things don't work and she has no way to work around it.
I am luck in one aspect, she never questions my purchases. We work under the usual couples model.. The money she earns is hers, and the money I earn is hers.
I get the scraps to do with as I please.
My apologies on just diving into HA and having a amateur stash of products. I shall fill the table at once. WAF be damned.
On the list:
Two dudes sitting on a bridge...
Yea I know, the water is cold and deep...
I took over an entire room to store my digital toys and smart home stash. 120+ devices, 2 hubs, Phillips Hir hub, Logitech Harmony hub, 1 rPI, and an Arduino board hack into my alarm.
Wouldn’t it be cool if we had a way to compare quality of life metrics instead of hub or widget count data?
I've actually been removing stuff like my Hue Bridge, Smart Things hub, swapping out my 2 CT101's for Pearls etc.. all to make room for MORE/BETTER toys of course.
I'm currently running through an evaluation/testing of Insteon so I have 20 switches in boxes to swap in for the existing Z-wave switches.... No problems here...
What are you moving Phillips Hue bridge to? I am going the opposite. Moving as many bulbs as I could to the bridge. I have a box full of bulbs and afraid to pair direct to HE due to mesh repeating issue with the bulbs.
I actually use contact sensors all over the house just for temp. Yeah, I have a problem too.
I've done the same. I don't use "smart bulbs" for anything other than lamps so I replaced those bulbs with LIFX as I liked their colors better than the Hue bulbs. Now my Hue bridge is in the "box O'Stuff"...
Because the HE is so new and really a work in progress I decided to simplify as much as possible first. The hope being that a simpler system will perform better and be more stable. Also I can reduce or isolate the amount of issues and increase the likelihood of support actually being able to help me..
I was only using Hue for some table lamps.. so it was easy to replace with Sengled bulbs. Hue did work pretty well for what it was doing but really it was just duplicated effort. I like the bulbs but they are pricey.
After things are stable for a while then I plan to slowly add stuff back in..
If you have a newer ZEN24, you should be able to switch to the fast ramp rate. Look in the manual and if it shows Parameter 4 (Ramp Rate Control) as an option, you can change it to turn on/off quicker (within a second).
Will do thanks!
Yes that did the trick - Thank you!!! Have to say the 14 or so Zooz switches I've put in for our upstairs renovation have been working really well so far.
Note: I used @mike.maxwell's simple zwave tool driver to set the parameter..
Parameter: 4
Size: 1
Value: 1
how you know it was that way? my tool just show number 3 times in parameter
I dunno - I just replaced the z-wave driver with the z-wave driver tool and set the parameter based on @agnes.zooz recommendation. I searched and found this info for Zen22 so decided to run with it:
| Parm | Size | Description | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | Invert Switch | 0 (Default)-Upper paddle turns light on, 1-Lower paddle turns light on |
| 2 | 1 | LED Indicator | 0 (Default)-LED is on when light is OFF, 1-LED is on when light is ON |
| 3 | 1 | LED Disable | 0 (Default)-LED is on based on parameter 2, 1-LED is off always |
| 4 | 1 | Fast Ramp | 0 (Default)-100% brightness within 2 seconds and off in 4 seconds, 1-instant 100% and off in 1 second |
From here:
It seemed to work.. Since I only recently bought the switches my assumption was that they are of the newer variety.
