When I press a button programmed to turn off a switch created by Groups and Scenes, it often takes several attempts for the lights to turn off.
I can see in the logs that the button press turns the switch off, but none of the bulbs are then turned off. This only happens when turning them off. Subsequent presses of the button will often provide the same result. If I wait 30 seconds to a minute and press the same button, the lights will turn off.
I have this set up as simply as possible. This is the only group any of these lights belong to, and is the only action the button performs.
They are all part of that group. They belong to other groups, but those groups aren't in use right now. They are not a group of groups. That failed miserably, so I backed off of it.
I would just have them as part of one group and then just change all the group devices at once. The problem is that you have a lot of devices in one group. I'm not familiar with the Halo. Are those ZLL? If they are similar to Hue they will be terrible repeaters and that's why the messages might not be getting to all devices.
FYI, I'm seeing the same behavior. Much simpler situation with a common component.
I have a rule to turn on two OSRAM Gardenspot RGBW strips half an hour after sunset, and turn them off before dawn. Seems they always turn on, but I keep finding them on during the day and having to turn them off manually.
They are all going on and off at the same time, I just have to press the button one time, ALL lights stay on, wait 30 seconds, try again. It isn't that some are/aren't getting the messages, It's that the whole group just stares at me daring me to push the button again just to find they are still not going to turn off.
I'm not sure how to find out. EDIT - Nevermind. Manufacturer is Eaton, and says it uses Zigbee Home Automation protocol.
I'll try that. Not sure this is an ideal solution, as correct operation would be that they all turn on at the same time.
I'm still thinking there is something going on with Groups and Scenes. Today, I turned on the Bonus Room group via my Google Home Hub, and nothing happened. The log shows the group being turned on, then all of the lights reported off and 100%. All lights were off, as was the group switch. It should have turned all of them on to match the switch state of the group. Here's the log:
