Grouping lights

Continuing the discussion from Hub Update 1.1.4:

just tried this with a samsung bulb and a sengled in the same fixture. seems to work well.

but there is another fixture with 4 sengled bulbs these bulbs dont seem to show up when creating groups. is there some restriction on which bulbs can be grouped?

thank you.

never mind … they only show up under dimmers.

but thats odd both the samsung bulb and other sengled bulb also support dimming.

The Samsung bulb and Sengled must support more than dimming. What drivers are in use by these various bulbs you are describing?

The app winnows the list of devices, so that a given device only shows up in one list.

you are right. the samsung and sengled are using the generic zigbee CT (dev) driver. while the other 4 are using the generic zigbee driver.

the first 2 support explicit CT control also. but all of them support dimming.

This is probably the first time that you've seen device lists where the capabilities aren't duplicated, cool eh?

So whilst the ct bulb includes level control and switch, it doesn't show in the switch or dimmer selectors as ct includes switch and level, no point showing the same device in three separate lists...

hmm … unless you are de-duping the list kind of suggests a new set of more granular capabilities … is that it?

all 6 bulbs support dimming. just because 2 of them also support CT showing those 2 in the bulb only list and showing the rest in the dimmers group is actually a little confusing.

sorry.

Meh, maybe, maybe not, personally I like it much better than seeing every device I own in the list of switches...
No new capabilities, just creative use of the tools at hand.

something like this maybe?
