I'm not sure if The Verge (Google Home hubs can now work locally thanks to Matter - The Verge) is drawing the right conclusion about voice control going locally for Matter devices, but that would be awesome! Either way, I'd love to see sometime in the future for Hubitat to also become a Matter Bridge. This would clean up some integrations to Google, Alexa, and Apple. Heck, you could even Matter bridge into Smartthings or Home Assistant in this scenario.
I just got off of the SwitchBot cloud with this so hopefully official bridge support is in the background.

That's why I'm curious to see how this plays out. My understanding was always that voice commands had to be processed in the cloud before actions. Some companies could add "local fulfillment" through a special API to help bypass the cloud and make things faster.
If Hubitat implements Matter Bridge functionality, we could use Matter to connect Hubitat to Google Home. In this scenario, we would get local control via voice? Users would get the amazing automation engine of Hubitat and could use Google Home for a dashboard and local control via voice. That would be awesome.
