Is it anything to be concerned about or mended if I have an above subject contact that goes into binges of reporting to the log that it is Open just for the sake of saying so, and likewise Closed. I'm talkin like every 30 seconds. Like 16 times in a row only to be interrupted by a temperature update/report to the log.
well it's not normal, and isn't going to help the device's battery life...
for the heck of it, what happens if you pull the battery, locate it temporarily to another part of the house, then re-insert the battery, does it stop doing this?
I have seen some centralite motion sensors do this when the battery gets low...
Thanks for the feedback Mike, I'll pull it from the Chicken Coop when I can.
New placed (old stock) sensor so the battery reading 100% could be suspect.
Will note this is NOT showing up in the event tracking on the device's page, only in the logs. Yesterday was a particularly verbose day....not seeing anything but temps this morning.
Anyone know for sure the battery status works on these, and if so, what driver type are you using? I had problems with these showing 100% in ST until they just up and died with the tyco device handler.
I'm going to say no. I have over 20 of these and they ALL say 100%, except that over the last few weeks I've been noticing that they stopped reporting their open/close status, screwing with my rules. Finally decided to look at the last Activity date and sure enough I saw the remaining 6 contact sensors I hadn't replaced the batteries in yet.
I have since installed the Device Activity Monitor app. But it would be nice to either have a working battery status or just have it removed. The temp reporting combined with the Activity Monitoring now will be my indicator when the battery dies.
