GE Zigbee Bulb not showing proper state (On/Off)

My front porch light is an older GE Zigbee bulb. Recently I have noticed that the light is not responding to commands and is not showing the correct on/off state.

For instance - The light is currently on but shows off in HE.

I use the simple automation app to turn it on and off based on sunset/sunrise.

I have tried to resent the light and add it back in...No help unfortunately - Is it time to get a new bulb?

It depends upon which GE Zigbee bulbs these are. All the GE ones I originally bought were GE Link Zigbee bulbs (with the green base). They'd constantly fall off my Zigbee mesh and I gave up on them years ago.

It is an Older Bulb - Its a GE "Wink" branded bulb.

Yes, those are the ones I gave up on.

I think I have a few of those in my junk box too.

Ok. Thanks. What’s the current wisdom on which bulb to use?

If I was putting smart bulbs outside, versus using a smart dimmer, I would probably go with Hue. Hue lights have been very reliable for me. I do use mine with a couple Hue bridges, so I can’t say how reliable they are directly connected.

To get you started...
If you're sticking with ZigBee:
$$$ - Hue
$ - Sengled or Innr

If you have the Wi-Fi infrastructure:
$$$ - Lifx
$$ - Wiz
$ - Kasa

All brands supported natively in Hubitat.

What would the reason for going with a switch vs a bulb on a Porch light?

In my observation, switches seem to have better reception and transmission strength, and function better as repeaters for other devices than bulbs. I read that the Sinope Zigbee dimmer has 20dbm transmission power. You don’t have to worry about switches being turned off and becoming nonfunctional. I personally have a variety of switches, dimmers, and bulbs. I only use bulbs where I want to change the color or color temperature of the light.
