GE Smart Fan Factory Reset?

I am a new owner of a Hubitat Hub. I previously used a Wink hub and due to persistent internet issues decided to switch.

I successfully connected Leviton wall switches and outlets. Now I am working on GE fan control switches. I cannot get the switch to factory reset. I cannot do exclusion from previous hub due to internet connection issue with Wink.

Is there a way to do a hard reset of the GE fan controllers?

Thank you,
Tony

Some older GE/Jasco Z-Wave devices do not have a 'factory reset procedure'. The only way to reset these devices is to perform a Z-Wave Exclusion on them. Any Z-Wave Controller can be used to Exclude a device. So, you can go into the Hubitat Hub's Settings->Z-Wave Details page and perform what is known as a General Exclusion. You may want to have a second browser tab open on the Live Logs page to monitor the Exclusion process.

P.S. And Welcome to the Hubitat Community!

Do these have a "pull tab" air gap switch on the face of the switch? With my GE switches, I have sometimes had to pull this, count to 10, and push back in before trying the exclude process. Maybe flip the breaker for a few seconds and try the exclude if there is no air gap switch on these.

Based on the log, the device was excluded successfully. But when I try inclusion mode, there is nothing recorded to log.

Any suggestions?

I did use the pull tab. Based on your suggestion. It excluded but cannot get to include.

Any ideas?

If it is an older model, those seem to pair with Hubitat better when the hub and switch are close to one another. Just don't pull out the power on the HE hub without performing an orderly shutdown via the settings menu. Treat the Hubitat Hub like a 'real computer', as it is running a relational database which can be corrupted if the hub loses power unexpectedly. The hub make automatic backups every night between 2-3am, which it uses if it detects a corrupted database during power up. I recommend you make frequent backups while setting up the system and storing them on your desktop/laptop computer. This way, if something goes wrong for any reason, you can get back to a known good system state.

If moving the hub and switch close together solves the pairing issue, just be sure to run a Z-Wave repair (watch its progress in the Live Logs) once the Hub is back in its final location.

Did you try one more pull of the switch tab before including it?

How do you do an orderly shutdown? I have been just pulling the plug.

Use the Settings Menu.

Yes I was able to get the Ge switches to work by pulling the air gap switch and redoing the exclusion and inclusion. I lost most of that by unplugging hub...

:open_mouth: :scream: :boom:

Don't do that, you will get a corrupted database at best. Treat it like a computer, and do a shutdown.
