I have a GE Portable Motion that's acting bizarre. It will pair with the Hubitat with no issues the problem comes that it's always showing Motion as Active. I'll pull and re-seated the batteries. I've excluded it and rejoined. I've tried the press 10 button 10 times to do the factory reset. All to no avail. Is it just toast or is there anything else left to try?
*** Additional info *** To make things more interesting, this issue happens on Battery power only. IF I remove the batteries and plug in a USB plug it works as it should.
It sounds like it might be the device itself that has a problem, however to best receive assistance from other users, it would help if you could share the exact model and the driver type that the device is using. A screenshot of the Device Details page would be even better.
You are aware, aren’t you, that devices and the hub determine whether devices are battery (or mains) powered at the time of pairing after the factory reset? Device power type isn’t something that’s expected to change on the fly. If the device is mains (USB) powered, then it is to behave as a repeater, and Z-Wave packets will be routed through it. Perhaps the device or the hub or the mesh is confused about routing, and dropped packets are the issue.
I do know how the repeaters work. This Motion has been powered by batteries for several years without issue, I never plugged it into the USB until today. The problem just recently arose with is being stuck in Active. After posting the problem, the WTF do i have to lose part of my mind decided to pull the batteries and plug in the power cord, without resetting it or having to rejoin the hub. I just pulled and plugged and it's been working. However if I go back to Batts it stays stuck in Motion Active. So I Excluded it and reset it and put the batts back in rejoined and same results, stuck on Active. but once I plug it in it's fine. Frustrating, but I guess if I have to leave it plugged in I could, I just need to find a place to put it near a plug.
