So I got a GE/Jasco wall dimmer for my place, I used to use smart bulbs but for my new place I wanted to migrate to dimmer/switches. So far I was not able to make it work, I tries with the built in driver and the one from @JasonJoel but the same, I can see the dimmer changing status and level but the bulb does not change. I don't have a dimmable bulb on hand so I tried first with an incandescent bulb (these are supposed to be dimmable) but the bulb didn't even turn on (the state was changing in the Hubitat device page), then I tried with a led bulb, it is not dimmable but at least it should work with on/off. This is the opposite of the incandescent bulb, with the led switch it turns on and it stays like that. I tried to power off but it does not work.
Has anybody successfully used 47338? For what I've read in the Jasco site I think 47xxx and 46xxx are practically the same in terms of Z-Wave
So I am not sure if I have a faulty switch. Is it possible that the bulbs are the issue? Why it behaves different with these two types (one I cant get it to power on and the other I can't power it off)
Any recommendations before returning the switch?
I installed three 46204's, which I think are the toggle version and had no problem. They control dimmable leds. Could it be some weird wire configuration in the box, or wrong connection? Maybe the ground and neutral? Is it really a neutral?
I have an idea: the instructions tell you how to do a factory reset, something like three up and three down, quickly. How about excluding then doing the factory reset, and then including again?
How about installing it in another switchbox?
Yes, actually first I had the known issues of the blue led blinking and I thought the dimmer had died so I did the reset thing. Now that you mentioned maybe it is not really neutral, I'm building a new house and that's where all my smart home stuff will go but I wanted to make sure they work first so I'm testing right now in the apartment I'm renting and the place and electrical wiring is really old, so maybe that's the issue. Do you know how to tell if is really neutral? When I probe the two switchbox wires I got 120 AC which is correct, if I had line and load would show the same?
So after some more testing, whit the led bulb the switch is always on, the circuit is closed (that's why the led is always on). I measure the two wires with the switch and indeed there is practically 0V difference, so the switch is closed and no way to turn it off. Even if in Hubitat shows as off.
And whit the incandescent is the opposite, the switch remains off, the circuit is open. So I don't know what's the difference with the two bulb. It is weird
