GE enbrighten Jasco Z-Wave Motion Switch - motion : inactive

Post it if there is something that shows up, and we'll see what it says.

Well, that's disappointing. Nothing to go off of there.

I think if you change to "device" driver it logs all zwave messages. I'll double check. If it does, that may be worth a try.

EDIT 1: Yes, it does. So try changing the driver to "Device", hit Save Device, and generate a few motion events on the device. Then we'll hopefully see what's what in the logs...

EDIT 2: Also click get info button while you are on that driver.

EDIT 3: When I use the "Device" driver on my dev hub with a GE Motion Dimmer I get entries like this in the log when there is motion:

dev:552020-09-19 09:27:27.082 am infoZ-Wave command:NotificationReport(v1AlarmType:0, v1AlarmLevel:0, reserved:0, notificationStatus:255, notificationType:7, event:0, sequence:false, eventParametersLength:0, eventParameter:[])

Thanks. Were you able to get any motion events though? I don't see anything that looks like a motion event - just the get info lines.

If the device isn't sending any events when there is motion, then you are going to be out of luck - can't make a driver do something if the device doesn't send anything.

Here is what I got, not sure if I did this right?

Those just look like the Get Info data.

Need to walk around in front of the device and see if it logs something when there is motion/no motion. If it isn't logging anything when that happens, then you will never get it to work in Hubitat.

And if it isn't sending any events when there is motion, the last thing I could think of trying is to use my custom driver for this device, and make sure that when you configure the preferences ensure that the motion sensor is actually turned on in preferences.

Thanks I am new to this,

Doing it now. Cheers Guy

Really? That is definitely odd. It isn't reporting anything for motion then - SwitchBinaryReport on all previous firmware is when the light part turns on/off.

Ok. well, that is a new one. I would suggest trying my user driver posted above, make sure the motion sensor is ON when you set/save preferences. After saving preferences hit confgiure once, wait a minute, hit refresh once.

Janson How do you install new drivers to Hubitat

On hub:

Still not working, here is the log

Hello Jason, This is what I got when I loaded your new Driver.

The motion detector is working for sure, as it registered motion when I pass in front. I was recording a live log looking at the screen and could see every time I pass in front of the sensor

I still can't get the switch to work properly. Whatever they did at GE Jasco to change the firmware sure does not work well with Hubitat.

The motion sensor is being recognized but the driver is not working the switch properly.

Not sure how I/we would get new Hardware Driver for this new switch. Not even sure what the firmware is. I am going to call Jasco again and see when they last updated the Firmware and the version number.

  • Install the Hubitat Basic Zwave Tool Driver. Link below.

  • Switch to that driver, and Save Device.

  • Open logs in a new window/tab.

  • Back in the tab with the switch, this Basic Zwave Tool will have a button at the top of the page "Get Version Report". Click that button.

  • That should output something to the logs.

Here is what I get. Edit: this is just a switch, not a motion switch.

@guy your switch is a Jasco Zwave motion switch model zw4006 - 26931-2 correct?
Have you tried resetting it to factory settings?
To return to factory defaults Press and release the top button ten times.

All those logs look right, and based on the logs you posted the device is showing motion events in the hub - like it is supposed to.

So what exactly is it not doing that you need it to do? I guess I'm confused what the actual issue is.

If it is not doing what you expect specifically when there is motion, have you verified the switch is in the mode you want - Manual vs Occupancy vs Vacancy?

The switch does not set with the commands, for example, you walk into the room, the light goes on but shuts off after 5 seconds. It does not seem to make any difference in what setting you use, they don't register.

Sometimes the light does not come on when you walk into the at all.

The setting are bizzarre, they just work properly no matter how much I change the settings.

Cheers, Guy

I deregistered both switches from Hubitat and set them up manually and they work perfectly just can't use them from the hub.

I should say, I program them manually. The motion senor and switch work perfectly once program manually, unfortunately the don't work very well using the Hubitat.
