Hello...as per my knowledge anything more than 7' will require the augmentation unit. Anything more than 8' you may not be to do with one of these openers. Anything over a 1/2 hp for most of private entryway openers is a misuse of cash. I am not a fanatic of the track get together utilized in box store openers.
