And... by the way, the IKEA TRÅDFRI outlet that works so well as a repeater for Xiaomi / Aqara devices is ZigBee 3.0 Certified.

I think what @Somel was saying / worried about was if a 3.0 Xiaomi device connects to a 1.2 coordinator will Xiaomi still have there "Old incorrect logic" built in and use that. Surly the only answer to that is it will depend on Xiaomi and if they A get it tested and accredited or B even know about the issues and plan to fix them in there new device?
So potential if hubitat don't go to 3.0 there may still be a issue, but then again if they missed interpret the standard again then the same could happen. End of the day it's out of hubitat's control.
