Flicker in LED bulbs

I know all LED bulbs flicker...just take a movie of it w/ your phone and play it back in slow motion.
However, in general with dimmable LED's issues with flicker are most often due to the wall switch.
Is that correct? THANKS!

Dunno the overall stats on this (though my gut tells me it's unlikely). Of the four dimmable LED can lights over my kitchen, one flickers periodically. But they're all controlled by the same SPST (dumb) 120V wall switch. So it's definitely the bulb's fault.

I had a similar situation. Turned out to be that the hot for that particular fixture was had never been torqued down appropriately. I put up with this for 2 years before I had opened up the fixture for a different reason and discovered this.

No. LED lights have evolved and continue to evolve. Unfortunately some/most manufacturers don't change model numbers even when internal electronics change. Dimmers change too, but more slowly.

The flicker can be caused by any of the bulb, the dimmer, or specific combination. Lutron has a compatibility checker and you can see that not all bulbs on the list work well with all of their controls. It is OK but I would not consider it complete.

To some extent that is true. Flicker free isn't regulated. Most...close to all venders... it just means YOU can't perceive it because it is at a rate your eyes/brain can't process/detect it. Most people who believe in things like blue light is bad for you....also believe even undetectable flicker is linked to health problems like eye strain and fatigue.

Interesting...thx I will check. What started this was a notable change...I'd never noticed the flicker and replaced the bulbs with no change. The switch has been installed for a couple years. It's the most recent version of the Homeseer switches...which they aren't selling anymore while the next version comes out. I use the LED's on them to show all door lock status, house mode, and things like the status of filters (on things like humidifiers)...so "just any old switch won't do."

You are right in this case unless it was the 6 100w (4w) bulbs was too much for the switch. I replaced them with 25w (2w) and there is no longer any flicker.
