First Alert smoke and carbon issues

Hubitat noob. I have some Lutron Pico remotes set up to change Hubitat’s mode. Then, IFTTT detects the mode change and controls Alexa routines.

I’m having trouble making my First Alert alarm trigger a mode change to accomplish the same control of Alexa routines.

Ok, that was the simple phrasing. What I’m really trying to accomplish is for when the Z-wave alarms trigger, my furnace with ecobee t-stat, pellet stove on geekbee, and coffee maker on geekbee turn off and all my lights turn on. My smart home is set up with whatever was on sale and works very well through Alexa. I got the Hubitat in hopes of the smoke detector integration, Lutron Pico buttons, and in the future, door lock integration.

Any help is appreciated.

I use HSM for smoke monitor and you will have all the options you mentioned above.

I agree, from what you’re describing, changing modes is not what you’re looking to do here.

Hubitat safety monitor can trigger several different kinds of actions when a z-wave smoke detector goes off. You probably need to use a virtual switch to work with IFTTT and a WiFi plug like geekbee though.

Virtual switch! Now I finally understand. When I get back from thanksgiving, I’ll give it a shot. Thank you both for the responses.

Thanks! I’ll definitely look into HSM tomorrow!!!

I created the virtual switch and that works with IFTTT, but I can’t seem to make the alarm to trigger the virtual switch or send a text alert.

What’re you doing to try to trigger the alert? AFAIK, pushing the test button on the device doesn’t trigger an alert. You’d have to use smoke in a can or create a source of smoke (carefully).

@jsvfreak I have Z-Combos and use this stuff to test...is very effective and clean.

I recall pressing the test button send the alert for me. I have mostly z-combo detectors. I know that didn't work for me on ST.

You’re probably right, I could be remembering the behavior from ST, not HE. Can’t test now without waking up the kids though!

I’ve triggered with a burnt match to no avail. Tried the generic driver and the user driver. I can’t get a trigger to work. My wife is pissed at my testing... hehe

I am wrong on this one. Just tested and for smoke carbon monoxide detector with Generic Z-Wave Smoke/CO Detector. I get this

dev:11512018-11-25 11:27:29.202 am infoSafety smoke kitchen carbon monoxide is clear

With just the smoke detector with Generic Z-Wave Smoke Detector. I get
dev:11522018-11-25 11:26:26.377 am infosafety smoke 3rd floor battery is 95%

No light or alarm on HSM for both.

Just found this thread... I too am trying to verify that my smoke alarm is going to notify pushover, but after much frustration attempting to test by pushing the "test" button failed to send an alert I am guessing that besides lighting a fire, there is still no "test" function? I suppose I could use RM?
