Feature Request - Delayed Restart After Power Outage

I would like to request something along the lines of a delayed restart of radios or other communication components after the hub automatically comes back from a power outage. I have many different systems that communicate with each other and often times the Hubitat hub coming back online before them breaks some dashboards and other components.

Thoughts?

Wouldn’t it be easier to put hubitat on a USB battery? No unclean shutdown, reduced potential for database rebuilds or corruption.

This would require a hardware redesign.

100% this. All my hubs (Hubitat, Lutron Caseta, Home Assistant) are on a UPS. And it has always been recommended to put Hubitat hubs on backup power.

It’s more about having the hub come online after non ups components come online. I guess I can look for larger ups systems. Seems like having a software delay would be doable.

i have a startup rule to handles devices that need to be tweeked at startup.

Could you automatically reboot the hub after x minutes after a restart? Clunky but easily doable.

Care should be taken to avoid a reboot loop. With that said, this approach is definitely feasible.

Honestly I would ponder a purpose built ups with ability to control the hub itself.

Think something like if power is lost keep the hub up for x minutes or until battery is down to x%. Then perform graceful shutdown. Then have a value for power has to be up and stable for x minutes And battery has to be above x% to return to power up and return main line power.

If the concern is about other things connecting to the hub then schedule a reboot of the hub after main line power has been stable for x minutes.

I do a variation on this. But, my hub is on a UPS. The Ring z-wave extender is line powered but also has an internal battery. It reports when on mains and when on battery. I use it to reset a couple of devices that require resetting when power is restored.

my rule for apc smart ups
