Factory Reset Steps for Devices

Has anyone put together a summary of the factory reset steps for the various devices we use with HE? When I was using SmartThings, resets were so commonly needed that I could remember the arcane procedures that varied from device to device. With HE, it's pretty rare, and I need to do an internet search to try to find it when needed.

Every device is a little different with this, Google is your friend.

I know, but even with a good search engine, they can be hard to find. Wouldn't it be nice if there were a nice database of reset procedures? Try googling the reset procedures for a lightify switch... You can spend half a day getting there.

It would be very nice, indeed! Thanks for volunteering to create such a list!

P.S. Just Kidding!

Collect the digital copy of the manuals that come with your devices. Save them to some central location. I upload mine to Google Books so I can easily find them. You can also use your phone to snap a picture of the Pair/Exclude/Reset section of the paper manual. Those instructions are usually only a couple of paragraphs. Save those images to an online folder for easy reference. Use descriptive names/model numbers for the file names.

Everything is different. Leviton has button clicks you do. I just recently ran in to an issue with a Nutone switch. Their reset is through the controller hub. Well, it's not communicating so now what? I even tried excluding the device, but it would never discover it. So no dice. So I guess it's toast. At least it was only $15.

Bottom line, Google is your friend.

We are starting to do these in our docs site, please tag me as/if new ones are added, we'll get them transferred (providing they are supported devices that is)...

Thank you Mike! That will be exceptionally helpful!

I know that it's an effort, but it is definitely worthwhile and appreciated.

I second the advice to save a PDF of the manual for all your devices. I remember it for a few of mine (most Iris v2 devices are just holding a button as you insert the battery, for example...but I always need to look it up for Z-Wave devices where include and exclude and reset may all be different and not as intuitive). In the meantime, it's not much easier than just general Googling, but the SmartThings support site has pretty good instructions for many devices Hubitat supports. Glad to see Hubitat is working on the same, though.
