Not expected and to be honest, it's pure coincidence that your hub stops working when an update is available. There is no possible correlation between a pending update and the hub freezing. It is possible that you are dealing with a hardware malfunction or a network issue. Similar hub freezing events have been reported when jumbo frames are enabled in the network, for example. Identifying the root cause of your problem requires further investigation.
