Need some help from those with Matter experience. Just added my first Matter device "Eve Energy (Matter) - Smart Plug" as noted in the thread title. Joining to Apple TV, Hubitat and Home Assistant were not a problem. However, I'm not getting energy readings on Hubitat.
Is the capability in the driver "Generic Matter Outlet" ?
HomeKit shows Watts via the Eve app
Home Assistant shows everything -
That device came out before the spec had energy monitoring .. It supports it but just through their proprietary clusters and I haven't reverse engineered their clusters..
This is to be expected on Hubitat as energy readings have not been added to the drivers yet. Hubitat needs to be on Matter 1.3 and have the drivers take both on/off and energy readings.
Wow. The thing is up-to-date with firmware, my Thread controller (Apple TV 3rd gen Wi‑Fi + Ethernet model) is up-to-date, all hubs are up to date and it's already gone offline.
I'm out. Won't pay for unreliable devices.
Sinope SP2600ZB is on order to replace it.
The same as Rick I have had several matter over thread devices do the same thing. I was using an outdoor plug however. I switched to a Minoston Outdoor Matter over WiFi and it has worked flawlessly. It is a shame that the whole matter thing isn't further along than it is.
I have no Nanolesf products but I am glad you told me. The worst matter over thread device I ever had was the Eve Contact Sensor. It literally was 10 feet from by boarder router and would not stay connected.
I used matter for a few weeks. Again everything was up to date and I have several ATV4Ks connected to ethernet (one of them selected as preferred) I only had the one device, an Onvis Matter over Thread outlet. It worked fine for a few weeks then mysteriously went unavailable/not responding. I switched off matter on the hub and popped in a good ole Z Wave outlet.
I have a matter over wifi outdoor plug that has worked flawlessly and use matter to bring in my SwitchBot Hub and Aqara M2 Hub. I have had zero issues with matter on either of those items. They have worked great. Just been the couple thread devices. I think it is a matter over thread issue but hey I been wrong before. Lol.
I have never had any Meross stuff either. Oh I forgot I had a Tapp matter over wifi bulb once upon a time. Stayed connected just fine but the color would just change for no reason and a bunch of wonky stuff. No other devices seemed to act crazy so I just chocked it up to a bad bulb and tossed it.
Have read lots of accounts that Matter WiFi devices are generally good, and Matter Thread devices are generally bad. Thought I would give it a try to see for myself, like I was the chainsmoker that wasn't going to get cancer. Now I know first hand that it's still not worth my time.
Still glad I updated my Apple TV 4 from HD to 4K, even though I probably won't be needing that Thread radio after all.
Personally, I’m not surprised about this and generally agree. Regarding thread, there are no real tools to troubleshoot the mesh/network. WiFi, Zigbee, and Zwave all have various things that can help a user troubleshoot. Thread is, for the most part, a mystery with devices staying or falling off a mesh.
