Enbrighten Zigbee plugin dimmers randomly stop responding

I have 8 Enbrighten Zigbee plugin dimmers that randomly stop responding to commands/rules until I unplug them for a few seconds and then re-plug them in. The frequency per dimmer varies from about once a month down to about twice a week. This is very inconvenient, especially as some units are behind furniture.

I'm using the "GE Zigbee Dimmer" driver at present, but the problem also arose with the built-on "Generic Zigbee Dimmer" driver and the user-contributed "Zigbee Dimmer" driver.

The units are scattered around a house that has over 50 mains-powered repeaters (mostly Inovelli Blue 2-in-1 dimmer/switch units), and of course these problematic dimmer units are mains powered.

Any suggestions on a fix?

This could just be something somehow unique to my setup, but I've always found the Blues to be really lousy repeaters -- I do not rely on them to repeat anything.

Do you have other repeaters (that are known to be solid performers) scattered around enough to provide coverage? At first blush, this does sound like a weak mesh issue...

No, I don't have many other repeaters (other than the 8 Enbrighten plugin dimmers themselves) -- maybe 3 or 4 others at most.

I do have 4 of these awaiting delivery, which I intend to put in the 4 corners of the house (the hub is in the center):

Thanks for the (sad) info!

I was going to ask if you had any older smart bulbs like the Sylvania's, but it sounds like you might have the answer above (unfortunately). The older bulbs would cause issues with my mesh.

I have been surprised with how many connections the Third Reality Nightlight makes. It looks to be a solid repeater. Initially I had trouble with it being rather chatty. That doesn't seem to be the case more recently. I just picked up some more to test out as repeaters for the edge of my mesh.

The only ongoing issue I have with them is that you can't update the firmware through Hubitat.

OK, what is that? Is it just a repeater with a bad name?

I was wondering about that too... I've never heard of it, and don't see "zigbee" anywhere in that thing's description, so amplifying whatever "PA" is isn't going to help a zigbee mesh.

I have zero smart bulbs, since I have smart switches and dimmers and variable CT and colors are not something that appeals to me.

The picture I posted was of a Tuya repeater. I have a couple of Tuya devices that surprisingly attract a large number of connections, so I'm hoping these incoming units will behave the same.

The pictured unit is shown on Amazon, here's the description:

Zigbee 3.0 Range Extender with Built-in Power Amplifier, Tuya Zigbee Signal Booster, Long Range up to 7600 sq.ft, Compatible with Alexa/Google Assistant, 2.4GHz, White

Ah, OK, I found it on Amazon. I'd be curious to hear how that 20db output works out -- that's pretty darn loud.

Rita Moreno as a Zigbee repeater.
