Expanding my z-wave network using the newer ZWA4011/58433 Enbrighten Z-wave on/off switch. I have one spot where there was a 3-way switch and the add-on switch is only able to turn on the light but not off. I triple checked my wiring, tried swapping out the switch and the add-on always with the same result. I had one older ZW4008/46201 switch and wired it in the same way and it works fine.
I contacted Jasco and they didn't seem to be aware of the issue. I am posting this in case someone else has this issue. If there is a fix, I would like to hear about it but as far as I can tell it is an issue with these switches. Not sure if it is physical changes in the design, a firmware issue or an compatibility issue with the add-on switch. I actually think the latter is probably not it since these are supposed to work with normal 3 way switches. Unfortunately, I buttoned everything up and didn't try the normal 3 way switch. I had to move on after spending hours on this and leaving as is hoping it is a firmware issue that will be fixed in an update. Otherwise, I may revisit at some point when I have the time.
I've never had to do that with add-on switches, and I have quite a number of them. Maybe I don't have any on the newest GE models/versions though - would need to think on that.
Just my dabbling...an led flashes multiple colors now, lol. I don't think it's the "guidelight" led. Perhaps like Zooz?
Could experiment with substituting different numbers for the parameter 5, 3-Way Type, in the link above. That's how I found out what parameter 19 did for the older model, (Alternate Exclusion) lol.
I'm not buying new equipment, unless I have to.
Or....LR.....lolx2
I'll have a crap ton of used equipment available after a bit. I'm replacing almost everything (keeping motion dimmer/switches). Did another 20 devices this past weekend.
Already replaced all battery operated devices except 3.
OMG, I should have read the manual better. I was so focused on the wiring I didn't see the 3-way configuration settings. I did look in Hubitat for some type of setting like this but it's pretty bare. The driver that initially loads is a generic one. Using the GE Enbrighten driver it seems to be based on the prior models and doesn't expose many of the settings.
Amazing Jasco support didn't pick up on this either.
Yes, that was the issue. I did a factory reset on the switch and for some reason that doesn't seem to be the default setting even though that is what the instructions said. Anyway, it's working now. Thanks for the help!
