Electronics Tinkerers - Can you ID this Molex (or molex style) connector?

I started down the path looking at Mouser's website and this is NOT a job for the occasional searcher of connector components!

This is a "female socket, male post" type where the actual plug I'm trying to find plugs into this and mates to male posts.

Probably rated up to at least 24v DC,
13mm long, 5mm wide, 10mm tall,
two connectors, top one (ground if I recall) is keyed

Someone likely deals with this stuff all the time and can go "oh, that's a xyz blah blah blah".

Thanks in advance if you do.

Connector #2

I've seen a lot of connectors and this one doesn't ring a bell.
However I see it has some method of keying by the shape of the mating plug.

Perhaps you could take a photo of a view ALMOST straight in as the mate would "see". Make it off center just enough so we can see the internal pin.

Tough to know 100% but this most likely is a Minifit Jr... https://www.molex.com/molex/products/part-detail/pcb_headers/0039301020 or one of it similar siblings.

The mating connector should be a 39-01-2020.

Yes!

This gets me in the ballpark and that's what I needed some help on. It isn't that uncommon of a form factor...I have seen it before but I think in larger sizes...it was just a wide open field trying to narrow in on what style/type it was.

Thank you guys.

EDIT: This IS the exact Molex connector. Can anyone explain why am I not seeing where I can select that post as the SOLUTION ? Does that pop up with time or do I need better glasses?

You're welcome. I'm not a programmer by trade but I've been using these things for over 20yrs so this was finally a question on the forum in my wheelhouse  .

As long as I've got you on the line...

Will I find these "made up" and on a pigtail if I look hard enough
or am I destined to have to buy some male pin & female socket kit with crimp tool to make one?

Thanks again.

Edit: OK, nevermind on that crimp tool comment :scream:

Since all the harnesses I've designed/made have been custom I've only ever have raw materials (sockets/pins/connectors), I've honestly never looked for a 'pre-fabbed' one. You can look around, maybe there is.

There is a much less expensive good hand crimper, although still hundreds of $$.

Worst case, if you're doing a onesy/twosy cable build then you can use a generic, cheap, crimper and flow some solder to guarantee a good connection. Something like this.

I would also recommend getting an extraction tool.

Thank you very much.

Have a good weekend.

You're welcome, good luck.

You, too!

Just some follow up in case anyone else ever comes down this road :

You can get the made up female leads to plug into the Molex connector:

AND you can get these fully made up cables:

Wow, and pricing varies (at least at the time of this posting)!

Just a guess, but perhaps because this thread is in the lounge category. In general, as the OP you should be able to mark a post in the thread as the solution.
