Ecobee Recalibrating After Power Outage

Had an actual 4.5 hour power outage just now.
Heard the creaking hot water pipes when power was restored.
Yup. Recalibrating.
Took maybe 10 minutes to get back on track.
edit: to start to get back on track. Took a while longer to get fully on track.

And yet again last night/early morning.
1.5 hour outage.

Lame.

Did you expect it to change behavior?

Hey, I just thought of an actual use for the HomeKit Controller Integration and my Ecobee thermostats!

After transfer switch goes to utility power, turn off Ecobee heat mode for an hour. Then turn it on, maybe depending on the date. I love it. I think.

Seems to work in testing, lol:

I don't recall having this issue, but I don't use the actual thermostat for current temperature determination. It's located in the hallway, under the attic door and outside the bathroom with a strong HVAC vent, so that area is not representative of where we actually spend the majority of our time. Using the remote sensors in a few rooms as the only "participating sensors" seems to avoid this issue, at least so I've never noticed it.

Interesting.

The trigger I was using wasn't good enough for every scenario. Also, the logic below worked during testing...no true/false stuff. We'll see next time the real event happens...hopefully not in a while.

The thermostat takes about 50 seconds to boot up, so I allowed a minute.

I also disconnected the router to modem cable, and it worked perfectly. As @gopher.ny has said, and I'm paraphrasing, "local is good".
