Ecobee Local API ( non Cloud)

I recently sent ecobee a request of a local API for use with Hubitat. Their answer suggested they might even consider it, replying

The solution that we have currently for local-access of your thermostat using Apple's HomeKit but I understand that this solution might not be ideal for all setups.

So if there are more folks wishing for such a resource it might help if you let ecobee know.

Did you only inquire about HomeKit? Did they mention any other options?

I asked specifically about Hubitat.

The answer provided suggests they currently provide a HomeKit local solution but no other.

My goal for this post is to motivate others to contact ecobee with the same local request for Hubitat. Hoping to show there are more folks out there that want a Hubitat Local API.

Kinda of like a coordinated attack

Just submitted a request.

Is there anywhere in particular you’re submitting this to?
I’m wondering if it’s worth hopping on their twitter page and DMing them as well.

Yes that has been their standard response to me also. I have requested local access to their API since one of the homes I have been supporting has absolutely no internet access and thus the Ecobee API cannot be used. Even though their Ecobee works after setup though their a cellular hotspot it just works but it doesn't integrate with the home automation controller (Vera).

I submit this request say every 6 months just to see of the story has changed. A while back there was an article about why HomeKit only and I can't find it anymore and one of the reasons was that there was some "exclusivity" in having the "HomeKit" branding on their box.

No local api is what is holding me back from buying the ecobee switch+ devices..

I went to their support email address. I would think any platform could be helpful.

I've sent them the same request several times now.
