Ecobee integration Supported Thermostat Modes not correct

I'm on a C8Pro, tho the behavior was the same on a c-7 as well. The community app seems to get the correct modes, but this 'factory' app only sees off and cool modes, which is incorrect.

I thought I'd already posted this question, but can't find it so apologies if a dup.

I'd rather use the factory app/driver as my needs are very simple, but I do need to be able to select heat, auto modes as required. The Suite does this but I find to be far "more" than I need.

How can I get the driver supported modes to be correct?

I wrote a small hack some time ago that should allow you to correct this:

@thebearmay can't figure out how that worked, but it did... Thank you sir!

do I need to keep the app live or can I disable till I screw up my setup again and have to reinstall the thermostat? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Magic . App just resets a few attributes and can be disabled or removed until needed again (shouldn’t ever need it again)
