Doesn't work. If Sw1 gets turned off, turn off SW2

You have to walk thru the half bath to get to the laundry room. Motion detectors in both rooms turn the lights on in each room.

Id like it so that if I physically turn of the half bath (this is a dimmer) , it also turns off the laundry (this is a switch. This rule does not seem to work. I tried RM also. I also tried using "physical switch" in the rule. Not sure if it matter but its a dimmer not a switch.

FWII - I did have this working in webcore.

for Physical switch changes use the Physical Switch component in RM

Your motion sensors might be retriggering before you get out though. Might try lengthening the retrigger interval. Would be helpful to see the rules for each, the logs when this is triggered and describe what is not working when you execute the rule other than it's not working.

From what I can see in the screenshot it looks like it should work. Use something similar for my entertainment center.

@lewis.heidrick I edited my post to answer you.

The problem with not using physical switch is if the light goes out in half bath from lack of motion it will turn off the laundry room also. You'll need to use RM physical to make it work. RM doesn't care if it's a dimmer or switch it just sends the off command. Since this isn't working there may be something else going on. What other rules are at the bottom of each of the motion light rules?

Just made this rule in RM and tested that it works.

I also use something similar with double tap function to turn off my attic lights so I dont have to climb back up if I forget to turn them off.

I paused the 2 motion rules and tried it again.

I turned on both the lights using HE > Devices

I enabled logging on my rule

tried again

I noticed 3 things in the logs

  1. I did see any logs for " Turn Off Laundry Switch when Half Bath Dimmer turns off"
  2. no logs showing me turning that light off.

All other stuff is (and has been) paused for those switches, expect a webcore that is triggered by a button.

Try deleting and recreating the rule. Maybe messing with it over and over somehow broke it. Assuming you pressed done at the bottom after you made the changes. I wouldn't mention it but I've come across it 4 times working with people and their rules.

All good ideas.. but I just did some troubleshooting and noticed this.

I pulled up logging and did the following physcaily
Turned on my kitchen cans
turned on half bath,
turned off kitchen cans,
turned off half bath

NOTHING logged for half

ALSO

I changed the rule to use the kitchen cans instead of the half bath.. works like a champ.

Hmm... Go to Settings, Z-Wave Detail, Z-Wave logs and look for busy messages. The half bath might not have paired correctly.

Is the half bath switch a regular zwave and not zwave plus?

I see Settings, Z-Wave Details... but not logs?

FWII this dimmer is not new... and it worked in webcore... Maybe a driver issue?

Possibly, device details would be helpful make model etc.

I know its a GE, and its a toggle, but I honestly don't know exactly which one. Is there a way to find out what it is without pulling it out of the wall?

I dont have logs there.

This a C5 hub?

When you paired it It should have stuck GE Z-Wave Plus Dimmer or Switch in there. That would let you know if its a plus or not.

This is what my zwave plus dimmer looks like

I use this community driver:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Botched1/Hubitat/master/Drivers/GE-Jasco%20Z-Wave%20Plus%20Dimmer/GE-Jasco%20Z-Wave%20Plus%20Dimmer.groovy

Iโ€™m going to guess itโ€™s regular z-wave. They have to be polled to find out changes, so this is never going to work great. You can poll them in Hubitat, but itโ€™s a huge resource hog if you have very many. Z-wave plus switches automatically report state changes back to the hub

C5 hub yes

  • manufacturer: 99

Thatโ€™s a non-plus device.

Yep non plus id toss it in the bin and get a good one. Those old zwave devices will slow down any other devices that route through them also.

Swapped out the dimmer, works likes a champ.

I have a ton of non zwave plus SW/Dimmers. Would be $$ to replace them all. Really worth it?

Yea, its worth it. At least move your regular zwave switches to the edge of the house on stuff you don't use very often. Hopefully not a bunch of stuff will route through them. Just replace them one or two a month till you get them all. When we bought this house I had 47 switches/dimmers/fan controlls and 86 can lights to replace with led cans. Just take your time and you'll get through em.
