Does anyone know of a "smart" light socket adapter?

I'm looking for a Zwave (preferably) or Zigbee light socket adapter to hold me over until I can get an electrician to come out and install some switches and dimmers. This is for my garage. Currently, I have a bulb in an old Zwave socket with a really bright LED bulb in it. But that socket has been pretty flakey, especially on a C8. As far as I know, no one makes them anymore. so not Im thinking I'll just replace it with LED shop lighting, and would like one of these plug adapters to hold me over until i can get the fixture replace properly
I'm looking for something like this:

Maybe get a dumb adaptor and a cheap Zigbee smartplug.

Or a smart Zigbee bulb where you have the Z-Wave outlet always on? You could always re-use the bulb somewhere else if needed....

I would go this way . I looked for a while for the socket adaptors and only found a few options that were very expensive. I ended up getting zigbee mini relays from Ali which worked great but they do have to be wired into the box so that would not help you at the moment.

Would a round one look better than a rectangular one? Then again, it's the garage, and after the electrician leaves, you the rectangular one will work better in the house. If the switches and dimmers are strictly replacements, do you really need an electrician?

For a while (in my other house, but similar situation) I have a Cree Bright Daylight 100w equiv. bulb. that was ok. In this instance, I'm trying to kill two birds with one stone and get brighter light and wider coverage with a plug and a few plugin extendable shop lights.

It Doesn't really matter to me. It's the garage and it's above my head, I'll never notice.

I have the switch to replace the dumb switch, along with three others, but the wiring for those is all three and four-way wiring, and that is way beyond my comfort level. If it s a single switch or a two-way I can do that, more than that and I'm not so sure. Even the last (and first) two-way I did, I was working with Zooz on, and when I got it all done they asked me to send them a picture and they caught a mistake, so hats off to them for catching it before Vivint did!

Not everyone is comfortable swapping out light switches. Some houses the wiring is a nightmare also. Most of my boxes have multiple runs and 3 way wiring in them so it’s a chore figuring out what is what sometimes.

If you are interested, I believe that the following device will do the trick for you:

Yours for the cost of shipping it to you...

Thanks for the offer, that’s actually what I have now that I’m trying to replace. Was great at first, but lately it’s been flakey. Mainly not turning off.

Hey Friend, Try this. I bought one about 15 months ago, works well. It produces 2 endpoints at join, not sure what the other endpoint does. It uses the inbuilt driver.
NB: Tuya releases at least 87 different firmware versions, so it might be a risk.

Empathtetic? Zigbee sucks.

So, why do you think that device was in my "forget it" drawer?

Hey, I knew a guy that was still using one for those early 90's "Brick" cellphones as late as 2001. That was the only bright spot of 9/11, the laugh I get when he pulled it out of his grip to call his mom to find out what was happening. I think at the time told him Verizon would probably give him a new phone and buy that one for their corporate museum.. hahaha.

I do have to admit, Zigbee can suck. However with the right devices, it can be just as reliable as Z-wave. With the proliferation of off brands economy devices(looking at you Aqara) Zigbee can really suck. I've had great success with Iris motion sensors, Hue Motion sensors, Iris plugs, Keypads, Flood Sensors, all on a C7. Most of my problem Zigbee devices were the "bargain" devices, where they save money with 1 page user manual in 2 point font, that says "put in battery-turn on-be happy"

That said, On my Z2M mesh, nothing and I mean nothing has fallen off in a year, outside of dead batteries. And I have a bunch of cheap devices on the mesh, including the problematic Aqara devices.

Lastly Z-wave sucked for long time when the 700 series was released

They take turns sucking.
