Do I care about the Sengled App?

I hope this belongs here...

I bought some sengled bulbs to see what all the hype was about. I'm less than impressed, honestly. I'm wondering if everyone loves them because of something that you can do in the app that is not easy to do in HE? I can't think of what that might be.

So I thought, why not try it out, and downloaded the app. But I can't seem to connect them to the app unless I have a Sengled hub, which I don't have because I'm using HE as my hub. Is that right? I'm for sure not excited enough about this brand to actually buy another device just so that I can mess around with the app.

Is there something here that I'm not seeing?

Right, you cannot use the Sengled app if your bulbs are paired to Hubitat. The Sengled app needs the Sengled hub, which is another Zigbee hub (the app might also work with their Wi-Fi bulbs directly, but those don't work with Hubitat).

I don't really think you're missing anything without the app. I think there are firmware updates for some of them (Hubitat may or may not have them), but I don't think anything noticeable really changed.

Having converted a friend from the Sengled hub to Hubitat, I don't recall anything special from the app--and they're much happier that they can actually automate their devices instead of just telling Google to do everything or having to pull out an app every time.

I think people get them because they are fairly inexpensive, non-repeating, Zigbee bulbs that directly connect to Hubitat.
