I’m about to move house and this time I want to make my motion sensors powered and wired.
I’m happy with Konnected and regular alarm sensors but can’t find anything that isn’t bulky, any tips?

IF you can use 5 Volt / USB powered, rather than 12 Volt, the Aeotech MultiSensor 6 has an in-ceiling adapter called "Recessor" - look here:
The web site indicates a version "7" is Launching soon - you might consider waiting for that if you can. They are taking pre-orders: Aeotec MultiSensor 7 – Aeotec Store
I can’t use 5v unfortunately. Those devices are pretty big I think.
And wireless.
Not in ceiling but for a regular PIR (if you're using Connected) on a wired alarm system the Pyronix Octopus is a fairly low profile 360 degree PIR.
Hi @bf1 , the most discrete 12v wired PIRS motion sensors I know of is the Visonic SPY series.
I have several Visonic SPY series PIRS 12v wired motion detectors in use for about 9 years now wired to my DSC 64 zone panel. They come in 4 different configurations named SPY1, SPY2, SPY3 and SPY4 for different applications (various angles of cone shaped coverage, curtain type coverage pattern for entry/exit, etc). They can be flush mounted in the ceiling (which is how I have mine mounted) or in the wall. They are very discrete (around 1 1/4” in diameter). I have mine mounted near entry and exit points of rooms (indoors) to monitor any movement of intruders and to trigger certain home automations. I also have curtain type sensors in covered areas outdoors above my front porch and outside any potential entry points (I have several french style double doors outside bedrooms/dining rooms facing the outdoors) and this allows me to detect motion if anyone is loitering or trying to look into the glass of the french doors to “case out” contents of these rooms. The exterior sensors are under the eaves or are otherwise covered and they have held up for about 9 years now although I do not believe these sensors are designed for outdoor use.
I took a photo for you of one of my indoor ceiling installs so you can get a sense of how discrete they are:
When installed in the wall, the narrow beam one (I forget which SPY# it is) has an extremely narrow beam and long throw so it can be placed at a height where any pets will not trigger them (if that is part of your use case).
In areas where you need much wider coverage (perhaps in the center of a room for general motion detection) another 12v PIRS “dome type” sensor I have in my home is the Visonic Disc series (the Visonic Disc 360 and the Visonic Duo 240). The Disc 360 is a pure PIRS sensor and the Duo is a PIRS and microwave motion sensor. The Duo uses dual motion detection to minimize any potential false alarms, although I have both I have never had any false alarms of the cheaper PIRS only sensor.
Although the Disc series is not flush mount, it is low profile like @johnwill1 ’s suggestion and about the same size (see the photo I took of one of mine - just around 3 1/4” - 3 1/2” compared to the HikVision at 94mm or 3.7”).
I have my DSC panel connected to Hubitat via the Envisalink Integration app so all my security detection devices can also be used in my home automations.
On another note, I also had a Konnected but returned it when I got the Envisalink as the Envisalink integrated with my DSC panel without any additional wiring to individual sensor wires at the panel and was less expensive as well given my 64 zones. In the last month, because of my past purchase of Konnected, I keep getting repeated email solicitations from Konnected asking me if I am interested in acquiring an investor’s stake in the company (apparently they are looking for investors and are in the middle of a fund raising campaign). Its good to hear that you are pleased with Konnected and are happy with it. Have you been solicited as well? Hopefully this does not indicate that the company is in financial trouble.
Anyway, hope my suggestions for wired PIRS sensors is helpful. Good luck!
That's amazing - thank you for all that effort. I love this community. I will look at this closely.
I'm now interested in an alarm system that you can integrate without all that wiring. I will read up on DSC - looks like it's available in Australia.
@bf1 , to be clear, if you are interested in using the Envisalink module, you will have to have a compatible security panel (either DSC or some Honeywell panels IIRC). There are several great threads in this forum on the Envisalink/Hubitat integration. Just type “Envisalink” into the search function to get the threads. Wiring of the Envisalink was just 4 wires plus ethernet (must b on same LAN as the HE hub), as opposed to one Konnected module for each of 8 zones (IIRC), plus wiring to each sensor input as well. Anyway, glad this info helped.
Thanks, @moh - I will invest in one of those alarm systems, just researching now. I see that the Envisalink is also supported by HOOBS so Homekit integration is possible too.
Unfortunately for me those Visonic models are not available in the UK I did wonder why I'd not come across them before.
