I will really have to think about all this info. I really was hoping there was a ethernet solution out there that wasn't control 4 and a whole bunch of extra stuff to make it work.
But will take all this info and have to sleep on it and talk to electrician.
Higher end residential lighting is in a period of flux. The vast majority of line voltage LEDs just don't dim well, even with ELV, Lutron dimmers included. Lutron has a line of drivers, Hi Lume, that dim well. The drivers are used in both Lutron and 3rd party fixtures. They are a lot more expensive than contractor grade recessed fixtures. The longer term trend is a move to low voltage lighting, including POE based. But there's not a lot of mainstream products for residential applications.
I actually just stumbled across this, and talked to them on the phone, they seem to be what I am looking for. Only thing is drivers
