I have some Sengled classic bulbs and Zooz zen34 switch.
What units are the fade rate and how do I get it to stop ramping when a button is released?
What app are you using to do this? Maybe a screenshot of your "rule" would be helpful here.

I am using basic automation rules. Your response made me realize there are other apps available to do similar things, I wasn't aware of this. A few look promising, by name. I will try this weekend.

I would try Button Controller first. In particular, you probably want to see if the bulb is capable of "start raising dimmer" and "stop changing dimmer". This exact example is in the documentation, and that is where I stole the picture below.
