DEWENWILS 800 Series Z-Wave Long Range 240VAC, 40-Amp

I am looking at this product ( Amazon.com: DEWENWILS 800 Series Z-Wave Long Range Timer, Heavy Duty 3HP, 240VAC, 40-Amp Metal Box Smart Switch for Pools, Pumps, Lights, AC Units, Electric Water Heaters, Z-Wave Hub Required, ETL Listed : Patio, Lawn & Garden ) as an emergency shut off in case of a power outage in order to conserve my battery backup. Long story, my pool automation system is old and has no remote shut off capability (nor can it be automated). I searched the topics and while this product has been mentioned, I could not confirm if if anyone using it and what driver it works with. Any guidance would be appreciated.

The other product that I am looking at is the AEOTEC 40 AM Switch. Any advice on this vs the Dewenwils switch?

Thanks for your help.

No experience with any of these high voltage switches, but you might also look at the Zooz Zen78 that is currently on sale:

I had looked at it but it is rated for outdoor (will need an enclosure). Suggestions on a weather proof enclosure?

I would go with the Aeotec only for the reason that I like applications that have full ground and neutral connections. Not saying the dewenwils wouldn’t work though.

I had an electrician install the Dewenwils over a year ago to control power to a garage heater unit that drives about 3500W. The driver is “Universal Z-Wave switch”. Pairing was easy and it works fine. The distance to my hub is about 40 feet, through at least four walls (2 x 4 drywall construction).

I don’t trigger it much so it occasionally shows up as “inactive“ in some of my device monitoring apps, so I created a rule that runs daily at 5 AM that simply runs this custom action:

queryDevice(Parameters)

Thanks - I wasn’t sure if it would work with the generic driver

My use case is similar - it will always be “on” and the Aqualogic pool controller will operate as it does now. If there is a power outage, I want to shut the pool off (except if freeze guard needs to run and I have an outdoor temperature sensor for that).

Here’s my rule in case you run into the same issue that I did:
