Hey guys, I live in northern CA and we just got our power restored after a 2 day outage... not fun!. The power went off in the middle of the night and came back on in the middle afternoon. I noticed that when the power came back on, many if not all of my zwave switches were on.
Does HE remember the last state of a switch and restore it after power is restored?
Or do zwave switches come up in the on state (I didn’t think they did).
Hubitat won't change your switch unless an automation causes it to. What happens (assuming that's not the case) entirely depends on your switch. I don't have a vast array of in-wall Z-Wave switches to speak for myself, but I know some do default to either power on or power off, some will recover, and some have a parameter you can change to adjust what happens in such a case. Or at least some combination of this is true for smart outlets (more or less the same situation) and smart switches--I can't remember which of mine do which.
If you want to know specifics, your product's manual may specify, and you might also want to look through its Z-Wave parameter list to see if this behavior is customizable. Since it depends on the specific device, if you can't find the information elsewhere, you might also want to ask about specific ones here to see if anyone has experience with your switch(es).
The device I’m most concerned about is a Jasco 12721 In-wall outlet. I have my whole house fan plugged into it, and when power came on, no one was home and doors/windows were shut. Fortunately no damage occurred, but don’t want that to happen again.
I'm not familiar with that particular outlet, but I don't see anything in the documentation for any Z-Wave parameters at all (not surprising; it's pretty old and even most of GE's newer stuff doesn't have much). I guess you could test it if you're not sure by cutting power to that breaker and seeing what the state of the controlled outlet is, but it's unlikely you'd be able to change its behavior.
