My humidity sensor just died. If I buy a different brand device to replace my humidity sensor, is there a way in Hubitat to make it just replace my earlier device in any exiting areas such as in rules, apps, dashboards?
I would love not to hunt all around my Hubitat setup and manually edit all rules, dashboards, apps etc.

which will do what you want.

Another option is to just add the new device. When you get to the part where it ask for a device name there is now an option to replace existing device. You click that and it replaces the old device and names your new device to that devices name. It will rename the replaced by adding "(old)" to it. You can then remove it.
Does device swap work for different protocol devices? I may need to replace a zigbee contact sensor with a z-wave one....
Yes. It doesn’t matter what the underlying communication protocol of the device is.
One thing you can’t do is swap devices if either the old one or the new one is a child device (of a parent device or parent app that created the child device).
If you replace a switch, do you need to still have the old one connected to factory uninstall?
