Device limit

Does hubitat have a device limit? App limit? Do more devices slow things down?

Wondering if I should install multiple hubitats and connect via hubconnect?

Only limit is 32 directly connected Zigbee devices (you easily get around this with repeaters) or 232 Z-Wave devices (a limit of Z-Wave itself). No app limits. Slow downs could occur if there is a lot of packets to send to a lot of devices at once. There’s no slowdown from just having the devices paired to the hub.

However, you can have a bad pairing or faulty device that could slow things down, and if you have a lot on a single hub, finding that one or two faulty devices or pairings can be very difficult.

Does this mean a simple Zigbee repeater will increase the device limit? Like a 120vac Zigbee smart plug would do this?

Yes. Depends on the repeater by how much it can extend, but repeaters communicate with each other and you can keep expanding with more repeaters, There isn't a limit to the number of hops, unlike Z-Wave where there is a 4 hop limit.

Great tip. I have several 120v repeating devices so I won't concern myself with Zigbee limits. Thanks so much.

If you did hit this limit is there a way to tell before you start realizing you have a problem? Without counting your devices does the hub let you know? Would the 33rd device just not work? Just curious.
