Device Firmware Updater

I successfully updated a zooz zen15 switch yesterday (took less than an hour). So, I thought I would try a zooz zen04 switch. I started the update at 4 am. It's now 2:22 pm. That's over 10 hours, and it's only 35% complete. Is this normal? My hair is turning gray by the minute.

That's excessively slow, but if it's still progressing, I suppose you can just let it finish. Otherwise, aborting the process and starting over is a safe process, so that is also something you can try.

I have found that keeping the device near the hub (and ideally on a small network, both likely meaning it doesn't need to go through repeaters) can help make things fast, though in a production environment, I suppose you have limited control of both aspects...

After 24 hours the firmware updater app either finished or gave up. I left home when it was at 50%, and when I got back the app was closed. Unfortunately, the version number remained the same even after excluding the device and re-including it. It appears that having S2 security turned on was the culprit. After inclusion, I was never prompted to enable or disable S2. So, I had to exclude it again and do a factory reset. Then the inclusion process showed the S2 prompt and I declined the offer. Then, the firmware updated in less than 20 minutes. Then, I had to exclude and include the device again to get it to show the updated firmware number. Arghh

Yes it is a known issue that the firmware updater app does not work when devices are included with S2, even if it had gone quickly it would have failed at the end with an error. There is an older unofficial driver version which works fine however. @support_team
