%device% and %value% not working for me

Even if the rule fires it won't give the numbers you want (I treid the same thing and Ryan was right)

That's because your trigger doesn't have a value. %value% is the value of the %device% that triggered the rule. So, you won't ever be able to do it this way.

HSM Battery no notifaction

Is there a way to make this rule fill in the "variables"? If it could just fill in the battery "value" would be fine. I would prefer a reminder it sent daily even if it does not change (I have had a door contact sensor at 1% for months). Notification works fine, but variables are blank/missing. [image]

Wouldn't HSM do what you want, maybe simpler?

HSM won't bug you (or your wife) enough. It is too passive and only updates on a change, not when a battery sits at 1-15% for months.

In the end I used a custom rule for the main devices, and then a custom app called "device monitor" that send daily reports. Still not what I wanted but it will do for now.
