Always been there. 
But glad you like it! You can use the "Browse" or "Main Menu" button (the wording changes depending on which you're currently using--and neither is specific to any particular section of the docs) to switch between the two modes.
I almost thought about turning the tree-based navigation off since it doesn't always work well. The docs platform is somewhat opinionated about how you name and structure files for this to work well, but I think I at least have any links it might try to use that don't really have content populated with something...
