Hello all, more of a general question. Sorry for the long rant I wanted to start a fresh thread on this topic … long time Smartthings user - migrated to hubitat maybe two years ago - my Smartthings is still there not doing anything - was going to factory reset and start over with it and leverage it where it makes sense in hubitat. (I also have Alexa / Google) and was perhaps thinking of firing up homeassistant for Tuya (see below)
PS this doesn’t get enough mention here but HUGE HUGE shoutout to voicemonkey.io
Aka its maker api for Alexa so obviously the usefulness for hubitat goes without saying
I recently went on a big ighting refresh and got a ton of Tuya wifi high hats of various styles - despite the townside of the dependence on that whole Chinese iot portal thing it’s been working quite well with the iot driver and the biggest use case was that these variants are compatible with their basic Bluetooth remotes. Now I’ve also set up hue dimmers and such which work great as well.
Obviously the lan control stuff written for tuya for home assistant is intriguing as well.
(My first attempt at setting that up failed)
I have literally not looked deep into Smartthings in years and was wondering if there is a good use case to leverage it - devices that stand out in your mind that just work better natively on Smartthings (or at all) either from cloud integration or even on zigbee / zwave front ? I recently got alerts in my hubitat on high cpu usage on some drivers trying to talk to disconnected stuff (I believe it was lifx) so wondering if offloading anything makes sense as well
My understanding is that all the custom groovy stuff is finally depreciated on the Smartthings side but obviously vendors like tuya support it
Anyway sorry for the rant, thanks
