CT Bulbs not turning on reliably

I have a bunch of Mercator Ikon CT ceiling lights that can be a bit unreliable when combining the built in Generic Zigbee Advanced CT Bulb driver and Room Lighting. Occasionally 2-3 of the 10 or so bulb I have wont activate with RL, but will turn on instantly if I use the On button or Set color Temperature button in the device page.

In this example 'Kayla's Room Light' As activated by RL, and the devices page says its on, but the actual bulb just flickered and stayed off. Then I went to the device page and turned it on. Then I tried turning it off and on with RL and it responds fine. But if I leave it alone for a while it will stop responding to RL activating it again. Using Force doesn't change the behavior.

I can't tell if it's a bug in the bulb hardware, the Generic Zigbee Advanced CT Bulb driver or Room Lighting. I have some Ikea bulbs that use the same driver faultlessly, but then again some of the Mercator bulbs are perfect too. And others fail every second day.

Any ideas? Anything else I can provide to help the RL or HE team troubleshoot it?

This is my RL setup for this room:

What does your Zigbee mesh look like? If some are failing every couple of days, you might need to reinforce the mesh with some repeaters.

As for Room Lighting, try changing it from a scene to a group and enabling Zigbee Group Messaging to see if that helps with activation.

Sounds like a Zigbee mesh issue. Stating that after turning them on and off from the device page they work fine, makes me think that this caused them to change routes because of a weak signal and then they worked.

I don't think so, because the on/off button always works, so the signal is getting through. It's something to do with how Room Lighting is activating the light, and maybe something in the lights firmware not liking that - because other brands I have are perfect.

Have you tried using the generic zigbee ct bulb driver, or Sengled driver. If you change drivers, make sure you hit “configure” on the device page.

The "generic zigbee bulb" driver is reliable, but doesn't allow CT, timed fades, etc that the "Advanced CT" Driver does.
